Simply put, Bell's Palsy occurs when the nerves that control the facial muscles get pinched, swollen or damaged in some way, resulting in a temporary paralysis that causes one side of the face and/or eyelid to droop and sag. This disorder comes on suddenly, sometimes overnight.
